Alissa Strong began her civil litigation practice in 2007 after being admitted to the California bar. Before joining Hansen Kohls in September 2009 as an associate attorney, Ms. Strong worked for Pacific Legal Foundation as an attorney in the College of Public Interest Law.
While at Pacific Legal Foundation, Ms. Strong litigated cases in the individual rights, property rights, free enterprise and environmental law practice areas. Her practice focused mostly on Amicus Curiae briefs in favor of tort reform and enhanced economic liberties. Collaborating with individual rights attorneys, she also worked extensively on the State Civil Rights Initiative Project, an undertaking designed to ensure that government entities across the country are not discriminating against individuals on the basis of race, color, ethnicity, sex, or national origin. As a member of the Property Rights Practice Group, Ms. Strong handled property rights cases and inquires from the public on all aspects of property law. She also worked closely with the Environmental Practice Group, handling some endangered species and global warming litigation.
Ms. Strong graduated Summa Cum Laude from Santa Clara University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Composition and a Minor in French in 2003. She continued her studies at Santa Clara University School of Law receiving her J.D. in 2007. Ms. Strong was President of the Santa Clara Student Chapter of the Federalist Society during her third year and received numerous awards including the CALI award for excellence for earning the highest grade in her Comparative Criminal Law course, and Best Oral Advocate and Best Oral Advocate Team in her Advance Legal Advocacy Class. During her second and third years of law school, Ms. Strong worked as a Law Clerk at the Katherine and George Alexander Community Law Center in San Jose, California where she was responsible for research, motion and brief writing, and law and motion hearings and oral argument.
Besides the law, Ms. Strong's passions include composing, singing, listening to a wide variety of music, ballroom dancing, traveling, and animals. Ms. Strong is admitted to practice law before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the United States District Court for the Central District of California and is a member of the California State Bar. Ms. Strong is also a member of the Sacramento County and Placer County Bar Associations.
